Congratulations on your purchase. You got a great deal. Stick with the HandiQuilter needles & bobbins or the Babylock branded needles and bobbins. A bad bobbin can be the source of many problems....

I think you can get the fray check off with rubbing alcohol. I would put some fray check on another piece of fabric, let it dry and then go after it with a Q-Tip to see how it works.

You can remove and put it back on - no problem. Just be careful when you put it back on the frame. Pay attention to the fabric (puckers, etc) and take your time as you do it. It will be fine.
