Can a Spicy Spiral be made narrower?

I love the shape of the Spicy Spiral from School House Quilts but it is too wide for our entry table. Has anyone made it narrower or shorter? Do I change each strata by 1/2 inch or take out one...

I wet the thread and the BACK of the needle. It seems the wet thread is drawn to the needle. Be sure the thread is sharply cut with no whispy ends.

I used an old white sheet and Wonder Under. Be sure to overlap your edges a little so they will not come apart when you sew the leading on. Warm and White is my go to, but the Hobbs is good too.
