The national Modern Quilt Guild is alive and active. They do wonderful, modern, hip stuff. There is an active group in Portland, Oregon your doubting friend can go to since seeing is believing.

My sister gave me a beautiful black featherweight. It's "birthday" is 1952. She already has a white one, and her daughter (my neice) already has one. Can you hear the celebrating?

Wonderful tip. You just solved my problem. I hand dye fabric and currently just fold them on hangers but not the best use of the space. Will check out folding them on comic book boards.
