Portability issue is a good point, I was thinking powered vs. non powered, but I can treadle as fast as a 6 speed corvette so I'd say it is much faster!

Hand cranks are nice to look at, put it on a coffee table, nice conversation piece, but I'd go with a treadle if you have the room and they are so much more efficient.

I have 2 Supernovas, 1 BU and 1 BF....they are terrific sewers but they consume oil. Quietest machines I own short of treadles. GET IT. That particular model is rare and desirable!!!

I have no problem putting to parts on a polishing...
I have no problem putting to parts on a polishing wheel if I have to, often the parts are corroded and it's the only way to clean them up. I use Meguiar motorcycle metal polish...no rubbing...
