The original part was coated with rubber to grab the fabric. I believe you aren't getting a true measurement of the old part because the rubber is missing. The holes for the screws appear to line up...

Not many recipes call for mace so I never have any in my pantry. Subbing equal parts of cinnamon and nutmeg works very well.

Welcome to the board. You can switch controllers by removing the current one and wiring the one that you want to use. I know of no adapter.
