Thanks for the advice. I thought about it also after I wrote my first post and I will serge the edges then turn for a finished look.

Should I serge the edge?

I am making some curtains for our grand son's room. He picked out this see through softer than burlap type of fabric.
It has a finished edge for the top and hem, but the sides will need to be sewn...
