Ok-then I'll not head out to see if I've still got the parts machine out there. Though maybe I will out of curiosity, it's still light enough I don't need a flashlight.

That picture is what it looks like with the needle fully down. When the needle is fully up, that part sticks up a few inches above the top.

Hmm, I had a parts machine, will have to check and see if I've still got it.
This should be longer with a hole in it that the thread goes through, In effect, it's the take up lever.
