Sorry since I'm no pro I can't answer... I tried water soluble and did not like it for this quilt..it shrunk up/ puckered if I pressed block/ seams .

There are lots of different methods to join the blocks... I google for "join QYG blocks" the method I use requires a lot of hand stitching.... which I like to do.. the back of my quilt isn't very...

it is "quilt as you go" method so each section is quilted in the last steps... then sew 4 sections together for the bigger block

I use "no show mesh" stabilizer. 4 blocks sewn together for one large block little over 14 in. ( give or take)

you could change hoop size and do this design... send me message if you would like to have it... 6 x 6 would just be smaller scrap pieces....I think it would be pretty.
