I agree, that didn't look right to me either. It's under the bobbin winder thread guide, and I don't think that's right.

Thanks everyone. I went back and turned it inside out so to speak and didn't find Singer on anything in the machine. It is very clean inside and after some electrical work, think it will sew super....
