I did it just the way the instructions said & I only have a small one here-gave the rest away. I can feel it through the fabric & YES the numbers (on the concave side or curved in side) both face...

How would the flexible black electrial tape make the bag snap shut? That's what the tape measure does (you use the metal, retractable kind)

I've recently made a couple of these & added fringe on the outside & also a handle- one handle of ribbon & the other cording. I love them!
