Does you Eatonia have a spoked handwheel? I've used a tractor supply steering wheel knob to turn a machine.
It loses the 3:1 ratio ( and reverse direction ) of a Singer crank,...

Singer is now working as a hand crank.

I had not heard about the side clamp difference.
