The quilts I make are 45x60. if you make them 70" there is danger of the quilts getting stuck in the wheels of wheel chairs but are long enough to cover ythe patient in bed

If you plan to quilt don't use batting and backing. You need to use fleece. Its softer and will be more gentler on their skin. I know because I make lap quilts for hospice i volunteer at and also...
