Sorry, I don't have any other suggestions. When it goes in for its annual cleaning let the folks take a look at it. It should work correctly as expensive as these machines were.

No thread waste if you just do one block after another in a chain and do not pull any threads.
I have never heard the whistle warning. Maybe I don't want to, huh???

I've never had an issue, but on the yahoo group for this machine they mention to be sure you pause a moment after you stop stitching, then press the thread cutter button. Hitting the button too...
