Glenn thanks for saying the Howards will evaporate. The friend that told me to use it never said anything about that. I wonder how long it takes. Well if it does it will give whoever gets my desk...

It really is easy. no sanding. just follow the instructions on the can. All you need is steel wool. And its fast.
The drawbacks are : not all the marks go away they can still be seen just dark...
