    I would avoid Stitch in the Ditch - because as careful as one is in lining up - one will probably be a little bit off - and then the stitching would be 'on' on one side and 'off' on the other .

    On the quilting, I'd go for something like a meander - so if there is a bit of slippage on the lining up of the two sides, it won't really matter.
