you are not a dummie. I never really had a pattern, this is how I do them. However many you want to make, say 4. Cut 4 pieces of batting or toweling I use 5" square. Cut 4 pieces of 5" square...

I put warm and natural left over batting in them but you could use toweling or anything that is absorbant.
Also liked the idea earlier of making them as potholders and using insulbrite. Lots of ways...

several people have talked about these coasters...

several people have talked about these coasters lately so decided to make a set last night for a little gift for someone today. They are really easy and work up fast.
