i think you'd run into a battery charge problem. a good iron needs major juice that a charge might only last an hour or so.

how about those seam roller things, i use it all the time when i paper...

I've always left the paper on. Never thought of doing them any other way. You are right about the bulk, I will try it your way! I also remove the paper after the block is sewn and spray starch it....
