VS is and abbreviation of "Vibrating Shuttle" the "standard" VS...

The shuttle machines only do one thing .. sew a nice stitch and only forward, but they do that OH SO WELL. Mine ( a 27 and several 128's) even handle really heavy thread better than my newer...

the legs just screw on the bottom not really...

the legs just screw on the bottom not really meant to be removable per se, but it does not fit in the jeep other wise.... was sanding and oiling them separately, they are nothing special just turned...

Rodney I should get with you on my old southbend Lathe ( 1930's I believe) then, also have a Sherwood ( metal lathe's both of them ) the Sherwood has a shaper attachment as well.

Near as i can figure it is a 103, short arm industrial it is about an inch longer and 1/2" taller "harp or throat' area than most domestic machines, also uses tall shank feet and industrial needles.
