If you are sewing with a 1/4 inch seam, 2 1/2 inches is too wide for the binding strip. You will not get a full binding. I have found that 2 inches makes a neater...

I, too, think the binding needs to be wider than 2 1/2 inches. The stitching on the front does not go on the very edge, it goes nearer the edge of the larger color on the front, which is the smaller...
