So I will make the first one. I think I am going to make a shadow box/floating squares as well because the pattern gives a really interesting dimension to the quilt. I may actually have more than 17...

Yes, I was thinking of doing it without pattern. It is fairly simple design. I have charcoal gray Kona solid that would be perfect. Thank you! I have about 3 yards which should be ok.
