It was actually very easy. I have the pattern "Star Spin" from
http://www.quiltsandquilts.com that I am making and it has pattern pieces with it to make the small sizes that go around a larger star. I found the paper pieced version on Quilters Cache "TwistingStarBlock". It's the exact size thats in the pattern and the paper piecing was so much easier.
I had left overs from the large quilt I am making and thought it would make a nice doll quilt.
