Thanks for the great link. I read the study (my eyes are a little crossed) but believe it contains valuable info.

My quilts are never going to be in a museum or sold for tons of money but I do want to use the best materials in them (be they ever so humble). I'm still a little confused about basting sprays remaining after laundering. If I interpret that right, if the quilt is washed soon after spraying, most of, but not all of, the residue is removed. Is this how you read it? I'm only concerned about baby quilts but they're washed so often it seems it would remove the residue.
