I was piecing my first Dresden Plate quilt and thinking about a woman long ago designing a quilt to honor Dresden plates that she left behind when she moved west. The same day I got an email from DM reminding me that 164 years ago our ancestors crossed this country in their westward migration. I named my DP "Grandmother's China left on the Trail" in honor of all those women and their sacrifices moving west. I don't mean dishonor to anyone, these were just my thoughts at the time the quilt was named. I hope it reminds you of your ancestors and their struggles, whatever and wherever, they were.
