With my 10in blocks, my narrow border was only about 1 1/2in wide, and if you are intending to make yours wider, do check on the big outer border first, otherwise, please bear in mind that it might not fit. I would hate it if you made yards of the narrow borders and then that happened.
I am making 10" blocks. Thank you for catching my error. I looked at the cutting chart and Aie cut her strips 1 1/2" wide and I added for shrinkage and cut mine 2 1/2" wide. I need a finished 1 1/2" border. I didn't have any shrinkage in the width, so I will cut my narrow borders 2" wide. Is that what you did?
After I wrote that, I checked on mine, and they finish to 1 1/2inches, so 2in cutting will be fine. Those little sashing pieces that I embroidered hearts on also finish 1 1/2in, though in the pattern that was given here, I actually cut them at 2 1/2in then trimmed down to 2 in. Hope that all makes sense.
