Looks like I'm in the minority today. When I gift a quilt I have a cute little single sheet printout that I include ("I Will Last Longer if Properly Treated"). Among other things, I mention that the quilt has not been laundered and if they prefer a more vintage look, they should gently wash the quilt in lukewarm water and tumble dry on a low setting. I began doing this years ago when a quilting friend was accused to charging someone for a new quilt when it was clearly used (washed) - go figure.
