Monody works. Nylon doesn't, and nylon breaks down, so some say. A thread net helps keep not only monopoly but other "nonstandard threads" from flying off the spool, winding around the spool holder, ruining your tension, and hen breaking. But I have no computerized machines so worry less. You do need to be careful and keep the speed as constant as possible, avoiding jerks.
