Nancy, have you tried a different brand metallic thread. When I have done decorative stitches with my Elna on Christmas tree skirts, one brand of metallic thread would be terrible and the next work amazingly well. It wasn't the machine. .
Yes, Judy I have tried different brands. I actually started using Superior because I was told it won't be a problem metallic and I have had very good results with other machines.
Did you try putting your slide plate on from the needle side? Some slide plates go on from the needle side and not from the left toward the bed - but from the needle side toward the outside.
