When I was making the clothes I used Velcro for closings instead of buttons. I would divide the 3/4" in half and it was easier for the younger girls to use. Buttons would be for decorations only.I hate zippers so it was a lazy way of doing things. I also used it when I made sleeping bags for the dolls. Kathy, you are right, velcro is much easier. That's what the patterns call for and what I used, except for the hoodie which was a Simplicity pattern and called for a zipper. But, the granddaughter "ordered up" a pink hoodie and that's what I made her!!!
