I hate to be a nit-picker, but embroidery is a noun,the name of the process. Embroider is a verb and that is what you want to do to the fabric. May I say that you are not the only one who uses the term this way, either. Another of my pet peeves is "boarder" for border. A boarder is someone who pays to live in your home; border is the finishing edge on something: quilt, wall paper, or pictures. Please don't be offended by my comments; I just like to set the record straight.
When I was studying linguistics at university, a very dear professor of mine who was teaching an advanced class for students thinking of grad school said the following: "linguistics is wonderful but it could be detrimental to your social life.
