Hi, congratulations on your new machine. I have a Viking Diamond Delux as of last week when I traded my Ruby in for her. You should have gotten the 5D or 4D organizer with your machine which will get you started. The organizer is a pretty good software to have. Not only can you organize, view and store your designs you can do a little editing with it as well. One of the features that it has that I love is that you can have it to put jump commands into those designs that have tons of jumps so that your machine will cut them. Love that one. 5D can cost anywhere for a few hundred for the basic one up to around 2,000 for the full package; that's what I got. I got mine about six months after I got the Ruby. The Viking educator came for a whole day of learning and fun and we did get a great deal on it. I hadn't planned on buying it but the price was so great, I couldn't resist. I'm not sure if you are new to embroidery or not; if you are new I wouldn't worry about the software yet unless you get a great deal or really want to jump in. The software comes with books but the best is what is installed on your pc with the software. This includes the small book that has tutes, etc plus a whole lot more. I'm taking the embroidery club each month to learn and also taking classes a few times each month to learn the software part as well. Our teacher and the store that I go to is great support and fantastic learning classes plus if she sees alot of us wanting to learn something (like cutwork needles) she sets up a special class. I hope you go to a store that is just as great as this one. Before you buy, have the dealer sit down with you and really tell you the difference in the 3 levels of software so that you can really chose. You can always upgrade but it is cheaper to just get what you want in the beginning and then you aren't limited either. Any more questions just ask. Here is a site that has lots of tutorials on the 5D and 4D; look at both because they are the same software. He also has great books and online classes that you can buy and free videos.

The website is called mrpatience.com.

Also on Vikings website they have tutes as well along with a free design each month with a project idea using it.
