Default "Hoo hoooo" Talk to the Moon

This quilt was so much fun to make! My local quilt guild issued a challenge of making a quilt with nothing but grays and one florescent color of your choice. My immediate thoughts went to "owls". I started sketching and it went from whimsical to realistic. I went outside and gathered a couple of pine tree branches and pine cones and then went to a friends who is a taxidermist and looked at an owl. It is always better to look at the real thing (if possible) when trying to draw it. This really got me excited. Well, all my sketches turned into this design. It was all hand appliqued and hand quilted. I added the metallic thread (which was really frustrating but worth it) to give it a little sparkle.
It goes to our quilt show in March where it will be judged. Wish me luck!
