I usually make lap quilts, and I usually have the recipient in mind while I'm piecing and quilting. I make them for special occasions like weddings, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays and baby gifts. I also make 'just because' quilts form may kids and grandkids. They're 'just because' I tried a new pattern, and it decided it should got to X person in my family. And then there are the quilts I've made for my DD and DGD of fabric from clothes they not longer wear. They are my favorite scrap quilts.
