Default My 1st attempt at paper piecing

I have a BOM swap project going on with a friend of mine in CA and we are wrapping it up in May. We will have made each other 20 random blocks that we can make a sampler out of. Before we finish it up I wanted to try my hand at paper piecing. I went to quilters cache and found one the right size and described as very easy. That was right up my alley. I started with the aqua strip one and discovered how important it was to follow the stitching lines accurately. Lol! So it's got a slight curve to it. I did like how accurate the points are. After my first one I think my lines are straighter.
The only rules we set for each other were mine were to be all brights and no solids, and hers had to have pink in every block. She likes novelty prints (reason for the lady bugs this time plus her blocks have had a kind of garden theme).
I think I will try paper piecing again. It seemed kind of cumbersome to me but it sure did turn out some nice points.
