I love your blocks! I do like the black and I think if you used purple you would lose the block definition. I like the blocks the way you have them now without sashing so the secondary black stars show. The stripe will make a nice border. Whatever you decide, it will be a great quilt.
I AGREE TOTALLY!! I like the black for the inner border - great definition.
