I have a Brothers NX 2000 and the foot pedal must be disconnected to use the start/stop button. However, I put a 3M sticky thing (small narrow strips) on both sides of my foot pedal and then a piece of sticky thing on a 1/8" piece of dowel and stuck the dowel pieces on the sides of my foot pedal and so now I have a speed control. I did this because I found that my FMQ problems stemmed from my foot pressure being uneven rather than my hands. It seems to be working for me. Just thought I would share this with you.
