I was in Tryon, NC and met Marilyn Doheny, quilt artist. She does wonderful things with assorted sizes of wedge rulers (she invented them) and fabric like yours. The more richly patterned the better. Take a look at her website as well as her books and see what you think:

I am trying to work my way through a number of obligations so I can disappear into my sewing room and get started on some of her ideas. And, no, I have no business connection with Marilyn. My Tryon friend wrote, "Come and meet a serious quilter who lives in Tryon." So, I am adding "wonderfully creative artist" to the "serious quilter" and writing to you.
