Thank you, thank you. I have a couple of old - from the thirties - hand pieced quilt tops. They were given to me by a now diseased relative to finish. Trouble - the borders have too much fabric (and can't really be removed and replaced because of some of the handwork). So this is a possible solution - I'm going to try it. In the end I may have to take a tuck or two, but this may reduce that need substantially.
