This question has been asked and answered at least a thousand times on this board. And here we go again....the answer to this questions always seems to be the same: For availability (Walmart carries them), price ($100-$150) and durability the Brother CS1000i is the machine for you. Right now it's $149 at WalMart. It has many of the features of more expensive machines: Automatic thread cutter. Automatic threading. 60 decorative stitches. And it comes with a quilting platform which, if bought separates, can cost as much at $75-100. It also comes with as many different feet as you will likes need for any sewing project. This machine will fit her needs and it's a bargain. I paid close to $200 for this machine in 2005. I'm still using it with no problems.
