I would not give a beginner a Necchi. Interested to know what model the Necchi is too. I don't know if I could directly compare a 201 with any Necchi I've used, except maybe the Esperia, which is very unusual. They both have a beautiful stitch, but the Necchi is harder to get accessories for and harder to get support with. It will also require more general cleaning and maintenance (oil!!). You could let her choose? That's one way to get her interested
