Ricky Tims actually starts his seminars by saying that very thing (about stamp collectors and such). He says that as soon as you refer to your stash as a collection, it is a non-issue (unless you get to that unhealthy "hoarding" stage). I need to go to the LQS for some fusible interfacing.
