Don't be afraid of big bold colors for children. They like them just as much as we do. I agree with trimming off the red on the right and left sides but then use black and a softer green or pickup all of the colors in a round robin type of sashing using more than one of the colors in the panel. Have fun these little wee fairies. They may win your heart.
