My mom used hydrogen peroxide to remove scorch marks from ironing. It worked like a charm. If I remember right she would use a white cotton handkerchief for the peroxide. This was back in the dark ages when nearly everything had to be ironed, back when I was a kid And at that time nearly everyone had the medical strength peroxide on hand to use on cuts. There is a type of hydrogen peroxide that is or was used to dye hair blond which is a much stronger strength than the medical use type and I wonder if that is the product that people used that destroyed their fabric. As a nurse, I also used the milder type on my uniforms without any problems.
