Lynnie ~ Most "normal" ducks love to swim right away; however, these were hatchery babies that we've raised in the house. My hatchery mallards LOVED swimming when they were much smaller than this. These are khaki campbells, a different breed, and I'm not so sure what they're thinking or why they are not excited to swim just yet. They spend the daylight hours outside now & LOVE eating grass & finding bugs. Some ducks prefer land over water & maybe that is the case with the khakis. I need to read up a bit more on them. We enjoy having a few ducks on our pond & a hawk ate our last pond duck over winter, unfortunately.
