It is not a mistake - simply a reason for adding a design element! Do you have more of the teal fabric? if so, add the piece at the bottom - an angled cut. And then add a smaller but similar angled piece to the opposite top edge over the minky. Looks like you planned it!!! Most important, don't beat yourself up - it's how we all learned.
