I use my slow cooker for spareribs. I put them in the pot standing up (uncut) and without any liquid, cooking on low for about 4 hours, making sure they are almost done. Then I put barbeque sauce on them and finish them in the oven for about 20-30 minutes at 350. They are the best. An alternative is to put cut up ribs in the pot, add barbeque sauce and either water or cola and cook until almost done, then finish in the oven. I pre-cook a lot of them, cut then into 3 or 4 rib pieces and put in the freezer, taking out what I need when I want spareribs for dinner. Saves time and dishes - just make sure what you take out is defrosted first, so they warm up in the over for about 30 to 45 minutes.
