Feffertim...glad to get feedback from someone who has actually used it! I've been on the fence all winter about buying one.
When you do french fries, do they get crispy on the outside or just brown?
For everyone else..I've been researching these for a while now, google reviews...from what I can glean there are lower end models that the heating won't get up to a high enough temp to get anything crispy, so you have to watch for that.
The other thing I keep seeing is "nonstick"...is this teflon? Sure looks like it, but I can't get an answer as to what this non stick stuff actually is? I've been leaning toward the models with glass bowls for ease of clean up and to avoid the non stick lining on the plastic models.
Reviews on line seem to favor Phillips brands..but for all I know they can be put up by Phillips! That's why it's good to hear from someone that actually has one.
