http://www.singerco.com/uploads/down...d14d6145d0.pdf which says no lubrication necessary. I lube mine with Petroleum Jelly since Singer no longer makes the original motor lube. The consensus seems to be that Singer quit recommending lubrication once they stopped making it and started building in obsolescence into the machines. I personally lube both of my 301s and have for the 30 years since I inherited them and they are still running strong.
