Default Should I serge the edge?

I am making some curtains for our grand son's room. He picked out this see through softer than burlap type of fabric.
It has a finished edge for the top and hem, but the sides will need to be sewn so they don't unravel. I could roll it with a 1/4 fold twice then hem but I am wondering if it will twist and not hang right. And if serging the two sides of each curtain will look good. I plan on using dark green and black thread on the serger.

Here is a picture of the fabric, I held it up to the window so you can see how see through it is. We bought it our local Army surplus store. It's a woodland camo print and is quite soft to the touch. Don't mind the heart shaped shadows those aren't in the fabric.....lol
