The strips were a variety of sizes, 1 3/4", 1 1/2", 1 1/4" 1" , then corners were 2 1/2" , 2" & wider. They stated you could cut your strips any size you have. The star is formed by the beginning kite piece that is placed diagonally in the center. The strips added to each side of the kite. The kites were all the same fabric, the strips scrappy. Their block size was 7". I cut mine 10" and cut a 10" square out of a cereal box then cut my kite template out of that making the top corner 3" on each side. I like that size.
