Depends on how many different colors you want to keep track of.
I ended up going with 10 degree increments which meant 11 different colors, unless we get some below 0 temps, then I'll have to add another. Will also have to add another if we get any temps over 110.
Oh, and good idea pulling up last year's weather. I ended up looking at the average monthly temps for my area and used that to help decide colors since I'm trying to pull all of mine from stash and wanted to make sure I had enough of each color for each temp range and enough variety within colors for those parts of the temp range that are likely to be most common.
